inFORMATION - exploring the recommendations - 28 July - 6 August

Catholic Health Australia is nearing the end of the first phase of its research project - inFORMATION – a genuine investigation to inform organisational planning for the future of Catholic health and aged care services in Australia. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has now completed the first draft of its research.
 
CHA CEO Martin Laverty will provide preliminary briefings on the recommendations of the draft inFORMATION report as part of the ongoing consultation process prior to the report’s finalisation and release at the CHA National Conference this August.

CHA Community Care Forum - 7 September
 
Following our successful Community Care Forum in 2009, CHA invites members and other interested parties to attend a Community Care Forum in Sydney this September.
 
The Forum will examine the changes for Community Carers following the Federal Government’s takeover of responsibility for HACC for people in community aged care, including those aged 65-plus.
 
Senior executives from the Federal Department of Health and NSW Department of Human Services will join Silver Chain Research Director Gill Lewin and others to explore innovations in care models and examine what the changes will mean for the future for community care.

CHA Aged Care Study Tour of the USA - Oct/Nov 2010

Catholic Health Australia and SAGE have joined forces to create an exciting study tour of USA aged care and retirement living facilities, giving CHA members the chance to gain valuable insights into the delivery of aged care services from key professionals.

The 2010 CHA Aged Care Study Tour runs from 25 October to 6 November 2010, and includes attendance at the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aged National Conference in Los Angeles.

  • Canon and Corporate Law at the Catholic Board table Forum - July 2010
 
Catholic Health Australia invited representatives of Catholic health and aged care services and other interested members of the Catholic community to a seminar on governance of Catholic health and aged care organisations. The seminar was designed for those holding governance positions as Trustees, Congregational Leaders, Senior Executives, and governance advisers of Catholic health and aged care oganisations. The seminar also detailed the purpose behind the Guide for Governance of Catholic Health and Aged Care Organisations, which Catholic Health Australia and the Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference have agreed to develop.

  • Pastoral Care Forum –  October 2009

         Catholic Health Australia members and pastoral care workers from other religious and secular hospitals and aged care facilities gathered in Melbourne during National Pastoral Care Week to discuss how health and aged care services can incorporate spiritual issues and become more people centred, examine professional development and interfaith issues, and identify barriers and enablers in the delivery of pastoral services. 

         Forum participants heard from a number of speakers - presentations are below - then discussed the challenges and enablers to delivering effective pastoral care. The forum concluded with an interactive session to examine how CHA might beter assist members to effectively deliver pastoral care to patients, residents and their families.
